Last June, a New York Collegiate Baseball League record 27 former players were chosen in the 2007 Major League Baseball entry draft.
The 2008 Major League Baseball draft will be held on Thursday and Friday in Orlando, Fla. All NYCBL players drafted will be listed here.
Philadelphia Phillies closer Brad Lidge (Ithaca '96) was chosen by the Houston Astros in the first round (17th overall) of the 1998 draft. He holds the modern-day record of being the taken the highest in the draft of any former NCBL/NYCBL player. Tom Fiesthumel (Rome '78) holds league's all-time record. Fiesthumel, who played in the Northeastern States Baseball Association (forerunner of the NCBL) for the Rome Indians, was taken in the first round (16th overall) by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1977 draft.
