The Commonwealth Coast Conference has named Salve Regina's Riley Diaz (Niagara '08) and Curry's Billy Galvin (Little Falls '07) to its 2008 all-conference team. Diaz was selected first-team All-TCCC and Galvin earned All-TCCC honorable mention accolades.
Diaz is a sophomore infielder from Miami, Fla. This spring, Diaz hit a team-high .413 for Salve Regina with four home runs and 48 runs batted in. He tallied 45 hits, 28 runs scored, 11 doubles, one triple, 21 walks, a .642 slugging percentage and a .485 on-base percentage. Against conference opponents, Diaz batted a league second-best .435 and drove in 24 runs. He was one of five Salve Regina players named to the TCCC all-conference squad.
The Salve Regina sophomore will play for the New York Collegiate Baseball League's Niagara Power this summer.
Galvin is a senior catcher from Deerfield Beach, Fla. As a senior at Curry, Galvin hit .290 with one home run and 22 runs batted in. In 36 games, Galvin totaled 31 hits, 18 runs scored, 10 doubles, one triple, 17 walks and a .430 slugging percentage. He helped the Colonels to a 28-10-1 record and an appearance in the conference playoffs. Galvin is a two-time selection to the all-conference team. He was named All-TCCC honorable mention in 2007.
The Curry senior played for the NYCBL's Little Falls Miners last summer. He played in 12 games and made nine starts for the Miners. In 27 at-bats, Galvin drove in three runs and drew six walks.
