St. Bonaventure University senior Randy Moley (Brockport '07) has been chosen as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the week ending March 3, 2008.
Moley hit .667 (18-for-27) in St. Bonaventure's six games last week. Moley has recorded hits in each of St. Bonaventure's first nine games and he has a 13-game hitting streak dating back to last season.
Eleven of Moley's 18 hits came over the course of back-to-back games against Mount St. Mary's and Boston College. Against Mount St. Mary's, Moley went 5-for-6 with two doubles, three runs scored and one run batted in. His five hits were a career high. The following day, Moley broke his own personal best with a 6-for-7 performance and he drove in three runs as St. Bonaventure defeated Boston College, 15-14, in 11 innings. All six of Moley's hits were singles.
After nine games, Moley leads the Bonnies with a .600 (24-for-40) batting average. He has a team-high 24 hits and he is second on the team in runs scored (10) and runs batted in (12). Moley also has put together a Bonnies-best .644 on-base percentage and he is two-for-two in stolen base attempts.
Last season, Moley was named the Atlantic 10's Student Athlete of the Year.
The Buffalo, N.Y., native played for the Brockport Riverbats of the New York Collegiate Baseball League last summer. Moley batted .274 with 13 runs batted in and 15 runs scored. He helped the Riverbats finish in a tie with the Hornell Dodgers for fourth place in the NYCBL's Western Division.
